Grants and Donations

Consider the following items when submitting your application:

• Funding is only provided to not-for-profit or charity organisations or healthcare institutions (e.g. hospitals or medical entity);
• Your grant must be submitted at least 60 days prior to the decision requested by date;
• Your submission will be evaluated against predetermined criteria and must align with one of AbbVie’s scientific areas of interest (Rheumatology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Haematology-Oncology, Solid Tumors, Urology, Migraine, Parkinson’s, Spasticity and Movement Disorder, Ophthalmology and Virology);

• Your request must support one of the following:
  • Disease awareness activities
  • Health equity
  • Improved patient outcomes and access
  • Advances in science and medical education

AbbVie won’t support requests for:

• An activity or event that doesn’t support medical or scientific knowledge to benefit New Zealand or the New Zealand healthcare community.
• Entertainment, social activities, and sporting events.
• Religious activities.
• From an individual (including HCPs).
• Activities/events that have already taken place.
• Requests for operational costs, salaries, and equipment (that may be used for both personal and professional reasons (e.g., laptops, tablets, mobile phones, smart phones, iPad, and other similar items).
• Requests that do not include a budget breakdown.
• Requests from start-ups or profit-making entities - all organisations must be not-for profit or charities.
• You will receive email notification from AbbVie if additional information is required.
• You will receive AbbVie’s decision via email. If approved, the authorised signer will receive required documentation (i.e. contractual agreement) electronically.
• Grants must reconcile to the approved budget within 90 days following the grant end date.

Step 1: Registration

All requests for funding must be submitted through our online form, and at least 60 days before the start date of an activity.

You must:

• Submit your application on behalf of the organisation using our online form.
• Once you have completed the registration, you will receive an email confirmation.

Step 2: Application review and payment

AbbVie carefully considers every grant request. Criteria for awarding a grant includes but is not limited to:

• Educational strategy
• Scientific and educational merit
• Target audience
• Geographic equity
• Availability of funds
• Adequate review time

We work to ensure that a decision will be made within four weeks of the application deadline. If you have questions, please contact [email protected]. If an application is incomplete or funding type does not match the original request, a Request for Additional Information (RFAI) will be sent to the requestor.

If your application is not successful, you will be sent an email notifying you of the outcome.

If approved, you will be sent an email confirmation with instructions to review and electronically sign the contractual agreement.

The contractual agreement must be signed by all parties, prior to the start date of the event to be considered a fully executed contract. Once signed you will receive an email requesting an invoice for payment.

Step 3: Reconciliation and outcomes

Reconciliation is required within 90 days after the completion of the program.
