Wellbeing in the Workplace

People do their best when they're at their best. That's why we support our employees' physical, mental and financial wellbeing.

Focus on your mental health

To face day-to-day challenges our global Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is here to help. EAP is a free confidential service providing assistance, counseling and coaching on personal or work concerns such as stress, grief, chronic illness, relationship and family concerns and referrals to legal and financial resources. EAP is available 24/7 to employees via phone, website, email or messaging. Employees have 8 to 10 free sessions, depending on location.

We offer webinars for all employees on a variety of mental health wellness topics to ensure you can be your best self, at work and at home. Leaders are also provided learning opportunities to develop the skills and confidence to identify and support employees struggling with mental health challenges and guide them to the right resources.

Live and work flexibly

At AbbVie, we understand that our employees’ needs and priorities outside of work change over time. We’re committed to supporting the diverse and evolving needs at every stage of our team’s careers. Our flexible ways of working can help employees work in ways most effective to their individual needs. Flexibility, which varies by role, includes part-time work, job sharing, and hybrid work arrangements for office-based employees.

In addition to statutory leave entitlements, AbbVie offers employees additional leave. This includes three extra days of paid leave per year for AbbVie Appreciation Day (August) and two days of leave between Christmas and New Year during the office closure period. AbbVie also offers two optional days of paid leave for volunteering because it takes all of us to make an impact in our communities.

Recognise the connection between physical and mental health

Your physical and mental health are interconnected. We offer a variety of programs that reduce the stigma around conditions like migraine, menopause and mental health. In doing so, we create space for open dialogue and better access to care, which contributes to stronger individual and team performance.

It means a lot to work in a company that's not just talking about wellbeing but truly living it. The fact that we're having open conversations about various "life stage" topics such as menopause - and backing them up with real resources and supports - sends a powerful message. It makes me feel seen, valued and part of a culture that's evolving with its people

Get financial support when it matters most

When the unexpected happens, you can count on AbbVie to help. The AbbVie Employee Relief Program (AERP) provides short-term assistance with basic living expenses in response to financial hardship during times of major personal hardship or in the event of a disaster. The AERP, which is part of the AbbVie Foundation, also gives support to children of employees by offering scholarships to help them achieve their full potential.
